I set out today at 2:00pm for a nice afternoon walk to the waterfront and Mt. Victoria to do some hiking/ sight seeing. As I sat down in the flat afterward I discovered, via Google Maps, I had walked/ hiked 4.63 miles.

I started out walking along the waterfront which lead to the trailhead. There were a lot of people on the walkway. It was very uplifting.
There were people in the water as well enjoying the weather kayaking and sailing.

This is basically where the trail started. As you can tell from most of the pictures it was a pretty steep trail winding up Mt. Victoria but really awesome. The views were amazing and it was extremely quiet up there. I also heard this very weird bird while hiking and coming home my flatmates informed me it was a Tui. They make MANY, MANY sounds; very confusing the first time you hear one! If you were to take sounds from a clicking game wheel at a carnival, a car alarm, doorbell and maybe some handtools, thats what this bird sounds like. Very bizarre!
