16 hours ahead, 24 hours on a plane, half way around the world

So I arrived in Wellington, New Zealand yesterday at 10:30am local time , checked into my apartment and met some of my flatmates, by some I mean 1, then headed to Orientation. I also went on a bus tour of the city, saw a bunch of stuff I want to go do and met some sweet international students who all want to explore a lot as well. So after all of the excitement, even though I slept 7 hours on the plane, I was exhausted and fell asleep at 8pm! Then woke right up at 5:30am! haha Oh the joys of Jet Lag.

It’s very rainy and 50 on average here. It is supposed to start being sunny again on Saturday so that will help. Aside form it being cold I went walking around today, bought some interesting groceries, Eva found an awesome thrift shop where I bought a winter coat for like $8 American, and then had some New Zealand coffee which is fantastic! Overall everything is awesome.

It is a very different culture than I expected. Everybody is very relaxed as a culture and even Massey University is so laid back about everything. Very refreshing coming from the States I might add. The Architecture here is very interesting. The buildings all look as though they are built for the store versus built and then sold to a random shop. It’s all very modern with lots of color everywhere. I will take more pictures of the city tomorrow depending on the rain. situation.

We put our shoes in the oven at night to dry them for the next day. Ovens are a little different here, kinda like a really hot fan.

Mt. Victoria is in the distance. Wish I could take a better picture. Its easier to see in person but on a clear day I’ll take another. You can see it from anywhere in the city and it’s about 15 minutes from campus. Pretty cold and windy at the top right now however, we went they the first day we arrived.
