We started off our Abel Tasman trip by taking the InterIslander ferry to the south island and spending the first night in Nelson. We stayed at a hostel, played a game of mini-golf, and took a bike ride.
The next morning we were off bright and early to catch the bus to the start of the track. We were off on our 5 days adventure in the beautiful National Park of the south island.
The first day was awesome. We got to relax on a beach and conquer our first water crossing. We set up camp right after the crossing beside the estuary (where fresh water meets salt water). It was cool seeing the lake go from completely empty to full of water in just a few hours. We also were honored enough to witness some amateur crab fighting right next to our camp site.

Day Two!

The second day was beautiful weather. We got to change into our bathing suits and catch some sun for an hour or so. Scott and Mary braved the FREEZING water by going in all the way but I could only stand it up to my thighs and even only that far my legs were so red. I had to take a jogs to get the blood moving in them again!

Day Three!

The third day, as we hiked to our next campsite, we crossed a big swing bridge, saw a baby seal, made a tasty dinner, and spent a lot of time on the sand.

Day Four!

Our fourth day was nothing short of an amazing way to spend our final day in Abel Tasman. We spend as much time as we could on our final beach and I braved the cold water and went all the way under the surface. However, jogging again fixed all the shivering.

Then we walked onto our last camp site in order to catch the ferry.

Day Five!

The last day in the park we got up early to catch the ferry. As we sat on the beach we saw the ferry approaching and then saw it turn around and leave. So I quickly called the ferry company and they got the ferry to back around for us.  lol
The ferry ride was nice, we got to see all of the park that we had hiked.
I could not have asked for a better 5 days in Abel Tasman. It stopped raining only for the 5 days we were there, it was perfect. Abel Tasman was my favorite part of New Zealand. I am so happy I had the chance to go with Mary Bess and Scott. They were the two perfect people to spend 7 days with.
